We recently took our 14-year-old daughter on a teen-dream trip to Disneyland Paris. Before we headed overseas, we were watching Ratatouille and my daughter noticed the Eiffel tower view from Linguini’s apartment and said “Oh I hope we can see the Eiffel Tower from our hotel in Paris!”

I immediately began searching for a Paris hotel with an Eiffel Tower view, and booked it as soon as I found it! If that sounds expensive, you’re right: cash price for the hotel I booked was $850 a night, or $2550 for the three nights we were going to be in Paris between London and Disneyland Paris.

But I didn’t pay $2550; I paid $0 per night, because I booked the hotel using Hyatt Points I transferred from one of my credit cards. More on that below, but first: let’s talk about the location, Eiffel tower view, and why it’s a good hotel for families.

Hotel Near the Eiffel Tower With a View

We booked the Hyatt Regency Paris Étoile, which is conveniently located near the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe, and a seven minute walk from the Neuilly Porte Maillot Metro stop. We bought each of the three of us a Navigo metro pass for the week, which took us all over the city and all the way to Disneyland Paris the morning we checked out of the Étoile–you can read more about the Navigo pass and how we navigated around Paris in this post:

Étoile Perks

The Étoile is a great choice for families, because booking a club room provides access to the Regency Club, a private salon on the 34th floor with unlimited drinks and snacks for breakfast, lunch and a light dinner. During breakfast and lunch the lounge is connected to the Windo Rooftop Bar next door with a view of the tower! We saved an enormous amount of money eating a gourmet breakfast and light dinner with wine in the Club every day, and typically ate one meal out (lunch at a café) during the day. Two ways to gain club access: book a room whose description offers club access, or have Hyatt Globalist status.

There were three in our party including me, my husband and our daughter, so we booked a Regency Suite King. The room could have easily slept a family of four, as it had a King bed in the main room and a murphy bed in the separate living area. Even though we booked The Regency Suite King, here’s how we ended up getting upgraded to connecting rooms on a club level floor.

Getting an Upgrade

We emailed the Hyatt ahead of time and asked for an upgrade (parisetoile.regency@hyatt.com). While they didn’t have Eiffel Tower views available, they put us on the 32nd floor in adjoining rooms with a view of The Sacre Coeur. My daughter got a room all to herself! Make sure you always email and ask for an upgrade, because even if you don’t have status, asking doesn’t hurt (we do not have Hyatt status and got an upgrade anyway).

As you can see from the image above, the cost in Hyatt points for the room we booked was 24,000/night. We transferred Chase Ultimate Rewards to Hyatt to book the hotel; here are two different credit cards we recommend to earn the points for this booking.

Open a Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card and earn 60,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. You’ll end up with 64,000 ultimate rewards which will earn you a couple nights at the Étoile with some points left over, all for only a $95 annual fee. This card gives you the power to transfer Ultimate Rewards to Hyatt and other transfer partners.

A card that will earn you even more nights at the Étoile is this one, but you need a card like the Sapphire Preferred, Reserve, or Ink Preferred to have the power to transfer to Hyatt & other partners:

With the Chase Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card you’ll earn a $900 bonus cash back after you spend $6,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening, all for no annual fee! Again, if you have one of the premium cards listed above, you can convert that $900 into 90,000 ultimate rewards and transfer them to Hyatt. You’ll actually have 99,000 Ultimate rewards when you’re done spending, because the Unlimited card earns 1.5 rewards for every dollar you spend! 99,000 Ultimate Rewards is worth four nights at the Étoile.
